A graduate of Ege University Faculty of Medicine, he specialized in off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) during a fellowship at the Heart and Diabetes Center in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany. He is a member of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS). Throughout his career he has performed over 6,000 open-heart operations and holds the title of professor.
